David Pearce - Business Performance

David PearceOriginally from Port Talbot, David now lives on the Gower Peninsula. He is part of the strategic leadership team which is responsible for the overall business and artistic leadership of the Centre.

During his tenure at the Centre David has led several strategic developments, including establishing the customer care programme, which led to the Centre winning the Visit Wales 2007 Quality and Customer Care award, the UK Theatre Most Welcoming Theatre award 2014 and 2008, and the Coach Tourism Award 2012 for the UK's Most Coach Friendly Visitor Attraction.

Also during this time, the Centre became the first licensee for Tessitura in Europe and in 2008 became one of the first European consortiums established to utilise the software (supported by the Centre's technology team).  Since then the following organisations have joined the Centre to collaborate and share the software:

National Dance Company Wales
BBC National Orchestra of Wales
Welsh National Opera
Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
Venue Cymru
Liverpool Everyman Theatre and Playhouse
National Theatre Wales

In 2009, David led the insourcing of the food and beverage operation, which has since been acknowledged by the Welsh Government for its local sourcing ethics and recognised as the first organisation to become a Wales the True Taste partner.

During 2015, the Centre won The Queen's Award for Enterprise - the UK's highest accolade for business success - in the field of Sustainable Development. The Queen's Award recognises our commitment to balancing the social, economic and environmental aspects of the business so as to enable a sustainable approach in the delivery of culture in Wales, driving profit earned back into the charity arm of the business for Creative Learning and Community Engagement projects.

Prior to joining the Centre in 2004, when the Centre was officially opened, David held a number of senior management positions in a range of public and private organisations. These included Theatre Royal (Plymouth) Ltd, where he was Operations Director.

David is a Member of the Hospital Club, a Trustee of the Association of Cultural Enterprises and is a Board member of Tessitura Network.
