Peter Swinburn - Chairman

Peter-SwinburnOriginally from Penywaun in the South Wales Valleys, Peter studied Economics at the University of Wales and went on to work in the beer industry, joining Coors during its acquisition of the Bass UK business in 2002.   During his time as Chief Executive Officer, he led the company through a period of significant growth and change, substantially reducing operating costs, improving efficiency and re-investing in brand-led growth. At the same time, Molson Coors - a company created in 2005 through the merger of the Canadian Molson and US Coors businesses - established a unifying culture and an internationally recognized sustainability competence.  Milestones during Peter's tenure included the formation of the MillerCoors JV in the USA, the acquisition of StarBev in Europe and the development of additional strong and growing global brands.

Peter's success as an international businessman centres on consumer insight, retail, social media, networking and sales.  He and his wife Janet have had a long standing interest in the arts and became supporters of the Centre in 2015 - recognising the passion and potential of this cultural hub in the bay.    Peter and Janet's two children are also no strangers to the arts and media.  Their son Rhys trained as an actor in the Old Vic, and daughter Jessie was an investigative journalist for BBC's X-Ray.

Prior to joining as a trustee of the Centre, Peter sat on the Board of the 'Denver Center for Performing Arts' - one of the largest cultural centres in the United States and still remains trustee of a number of US and UK corporate and private organisations.
