Wales’ leading youth organisation
Urdd Gobaith Cymru is one of Europe’s largest youth organisaitons. It provides cultural and sporting activity for 53,000 young people in Wales aged between 8 and 25. Its top quality residential centers currently give an opportunity for 30,000 children a year to experience outdoor activities.
At the Wales Millennium Centre, the Urdd provides accommodation for over 150 youngsters. Each year, 10,000 children will come and stay for short and week-long breaks. During this time, they will create performances, join workshops run by other arts residents and present work to the public.
Every four years, starting in 2005, the Urdd will stage the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Wales Millennium Centre. This is the largest competitive youth festival in Europe. It promotes youth arts and creativity with 15,000 finalists at the week-long celebration.
The Urdd City Sleepover
The Urdd City Sleepover is Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s newest residential centre situated in one of Europes most exciting arts venues here at Wales Millennium Centre, at the heart of Cardiff Bay. Next door to the new Welsh Assembly building, it is an ideal venue to taste the culture of Wales’ Capital city and experience a wide range of activities and artistic courses.
The residential centre was especially built with young people’s safety as a priority and all the staff at the centre have CRB clearance. A night watchman is on duty, there is a swipe card security system and closed circuit cameras are in operation.
The Urdd City Sleepover can accommodate groups of up to 153 in en-suite bedrooms. Facilities include a multi-purpose hall / theatre with the latest technological equipment as well as lounges, a dining hall, meeting rooms and classrooms.
They can also arrange special visits to the Millennium Stadium, National Assembly for Wales, Techniquest, Welsh Folk Museum, National Museum of Wales, Big Pit, Castell Coch, Cardiff Castle and many more...
