Wales Millennium Centre celebrates Wales as a community of diverse cultures.
We are located in Butetown, one of the UK’s oldest multi-cultural communities.
Brief history of our location
Cardiff Bay is a hub of activity today attracting crowds to its pretty waterfront setting, striking architecture - old and new, and numerous trendy bars and restaurants. Turn the clock back 100 years or so and Cardiff Bay, or Tiger Bay as it was commonly known, was a hub of industrial activity when Wales saw its golden age with the exportation of coal from the Docks to all corners of the world. Thousands of people from across the globe flocked to prosperous Cardiff to work and settle, introducing a diverse culture. We are proud of our industrial heritage which is reflected through the design and materials used to build Wales Millennium Centre, we are often projected as an icon to promote and symbolise 21st Century Wales.
