The Butetown Rats have been planning the takeover of Cardiff Bay for generations and now it is time to unveil their plans.

A small tail about a young Rat who is about to go through her family's traditional initiation. Her right of passage is to steal something from the humans, that she can not eat, what ever she finds will become her name. Born into a world of set traditions she struggles with her identity.

On her adventure she encounters other Rats that show her what freedom is all about.

A black comedy incorporating masks, dance, hip-hop culture, rock and rhyme in a masquerade.

A Kyle Alonzo Legall creation, supported by the Arts Council of Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre.

extraArrival Information

RATS will start promptly at 1.30pm for a Matinee and 8pm for an Evening performance.

Please arrive at the Stones Bar on Level 5 of Wales Millennium Centre at least 15 minutes before the show starts, that is - 1.15pm for a Matinee or 7.45pm for an Evening performance, from there you will be accompanied to the Roof Void by staff from the Centre. The last audience group will leave the Stones Bar 5 minutes before the show begins to ensure a prompt start to the performance. If you miss this departure, you will have to wait until the latecomers point to be allowed into the show.

Access to The Roof Void is via a short flight of steps and there is a different Meeting Point for audience members who require a lift for access. If you have any access requirements please speak to a member of our Ticket Office on 029 2063 6464 before booking your tickets.
