Diwali

This event is free - just turn up on the day
14 Oct 2017 16.00

4pm - 7pm

Come to Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay to celebrate the festival of lights, Diwali.

In partnership with Wales Tamil Sangam, the Centre will come alive with the colour, sound and positivity of Diwali.

Promising its usual electric atmosphere and warm welcome, the festival of lights will take over the Centre with music and dance performances and family craft workshops. And of course, there will be fireworks to give a rousing finale to the festival of lights.

Join us and join in!

Looking back at Diwali

Past festivities have seen local primary schools sparking off celebrations with educational workshops based on the story of Diwali - through movement, dance and craft.

A warm welcome continues throughout the evening with a vibrant Glanfa programme. From dancers head to toe in sparkling jewels, to the unique sound of an eight-piece Tamil band and Cardiff's very own Jukebox Collective -  a night alive with talent.

People, young and old take to the floor, dancing to the Bollywood vibes, while others make Diwali inspired lanterns and crafts. Colourful wall projections and local community Rangoli artwork adorn the spaces of the Centre.

As the evening draws to a close crowds of performers, guests and spectators gather for the finale - a firework display - closing the celebrations with a loud and colourful bang!
