Curious Incident Schools' Workshops

We will be hosting a series of workshops specially created by National Theatre for schools to enjoy.


Show dates:
2-6 May
School tickets: £13.50 (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 2.30pm). One free teacher's seat with every 10 pupils.

An entertaining and engaging live theatre experience for students and teachers. Based on Mark Haddon's best-selling novel, the play follows Christopher Boone as he tries to solve the mystery of who killed Mrs Shears' dog. An extensive range of online resources, designed to enhance students' understanding of the production with links to the National Curriculum in Drama, English and PHSE at KS3-5, is available to support your visit to the theatre. http://www.curiousonstage.com/learning/


Curious Incident Insight Session

An hour-long interactive insight into different aspects of the current production led by Kim Pearce (Resident Director on both UK Tours of Curious Incident). Please choose one of the following options for the main focus of your event:

Inside the Rehearsal Room
An overview of how the creative team worked collaboratively to bring the production to life including practical interactive demonstrations of how the actors and directors work in rehearsals to unlock the script.

Technical in Focus
A multi-media insight into the processes used by the design team when imagining this production for the first time and how the audio/visual elements have evolved in line with the staging from in-the-round to proscenium arch.

From Novel to Play
A  practical session using writing exercises to explore how dialogue, character, comedy and tension can be shaped through deeper exploration of the novel.

Maximum Group Size: 90
Suitable for: any group seeing the production
When: 3 & 4 May (time negotiable) at your school/venue

Frantic Assembly Workshop

Curious Incident Movement Uncovered - experience the physicality of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time with the production's Movement Directors Frantic Assembly. Join a Frantic practitioner for a highly physical and energetic workshop; fly through the air, get lost at Swindon station and uncover the everyday moments in Christopher's world.

Suitable for: KS 4/5 students
When: Flexible
Price: £240-£390

Design Challenge

National Theatre Learning, in partnership with Creative & Cultural Skills, have set an exciting Design Challenge for students: Students have the opportunity to design a scene from the play and receive feedback, support, and advice from professional designers.

Most suitable for: Level 3 students studying elements of design and production and Level 4 HND/Foundation Degree Students.
