Paul-Robeson-smallPaul Robeson was born 120 years ago in 1898 in Princeton, New Jersey. During his varied career he appeared as an actor in 15 films. One of the most important of them was The Proud Valley (1940), which was filmed on a location in South Wales. Mererid Hopwood, the author of the opening concert of this year's Eisteddfod, will discuss Paul's career and the effect of this film and subsequent links to Wales on his life with Beverley Humphreys and Harry Ernest from the Paul Robeson Trust and the composer of the opening concert of the Eisteddfod, Robat Arwyn.
