Billy Bragg has been a fearless recording artist, tireless live performer and peerless political campaigner for over 30 years. Politicised by a Tory government operating without love or justice (hard to imagine now), this previously adrift young man from Barking, with few career opportunities, bought himself out of the British Army in 1981 (‘the best £175 I ever spent’), determined to make a living out of song.

For most of us, 2016 was a tumultuous and ugly year – one steeped in political chaos and an air of uncertainty. For Nadine Shah, these headlines had been a big part of her life for years. She has earned a reputation for a uniquely rich, soulful voice; but her music deals with a wide range of contemporary issues from gentrification to the refugee crisis and Islamophobia. She’s a social commentator that promotes mental health, gender equality, and tolerance for ethnic and religious minorities.

Join us for an evening of music and conversation, bringing people together over song and activism. This is all about the importance of using your voice.
