Are you an artist or community art group with a striking idea for a piece of public art? We want to hear from you.
We’re looking for an individual, community group and/or community arts organisation from any part of Wales to create a piece of public art to be displayed on our building for six months – from April to September 2021.
This is a paid opportunity, with a fee of £500 based on 3 days’ work plus materials.
This is our third call out – we’ve previously invited artists to respond to International Women’s Day and Black Lives Matter.
This time there’s no set theme – we want to give you the space to tell your story or to comment on something that matters to you.
You may be inspired by stories from your community or the challenging time we’re living through, or it could be that you simply want to respond to the world around you.
This is an opportunity to celebrate, challenge, ask questions and to make your voice heard.
The location of the artwork will depend on the scope and size of the chosen artwork.
How to apply
Please send a description and/ or design of your artwork with some information about the work you make to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have social media profiles and feel happy to share them with us, please send those too. Please bear in mind that this is a public piece of art, and so language and imagery should be created with the wider public in mind.
If you would like to chat about this opportunity or ask any questions, please email Gemma at email@example.com.
How will we decide?
This project is part of our community programme. We want to address the power imbalance that we all see in the arts.
The decision process will be democratic and will involve asking those who apply for this opportunity to decide whose work gets displayed. None of our staff will be involved in the decision-making process.
By shifting the power from our organisation to you, the artists, we hope to make our public spaces and exhibition a place for new artists. We want to find new talents and new voices.
The deadline for applications is Friday 9 April.
