Radio Platfform is our training programme and youth-led radio station supporting young people to produce and present their own live radio shows and podcasts.

We currently have two studios based in Cardiff and Porth.

Our current shows feature drum and bass, hip-hop, dub and grime, gaming, youth culture, politics, the environment, artist interviews and more.

There are now lots of ways for you to listen, from your smart speaker 'Alexa, listen to Radio Platfform' to Google Home. You can also find us on mobile, desktop and tablet and can listen again to any of our shows on Mixcloud.

Meet some of the team

Having graduated from training, some trainees choose to stay and work with us, taking on extra roles and responsibilities for 6-12 months, while others simply wish to continue presenting their own shows and honing their skills.

Jack Dunn

Like many Radio Platfform members, Jack completed the Radio Broadcasting Course to gain the skills required to step into the world of radio. Today, you can find him operating as our Cardiff Studio Co-ordinator.

He is bilingual, speaking fluent English and German and has gained a variety of experiences by being born in Spain, growing up in Austria and moving to Cardiff at 20 to reconnect with his Welsh roots.

In addition to a background in event management and recruitment, Jack`s strongest experience is as a musician. He has been performing for most of his life as part of bands ‘Chronic Marmalade’, ‘Spilled Liquor’, as a freelance lyricist and vocalist as well as in association with ‘Horizon Audio Productions’.

Molly Palmer

Porth Studio Co-ordinator Molly was a Future Generations Ambassador in Wales in 2020 and helps keep everything on track in the studio. She also hosts her own show, 'Life on the Inside'.

As well as being passionate about radio Molly loves to go to gigs and hang out at  venues with her friends to socialise and see artists as music is a really big part of her life.

Molly also loves being creative, and during the second lockdown started a business selling handmade earrings and Welsh prints.

Bablu Shikdar

Our Outreach and Training Officer Bablu Shikdar, has a background in all forms of media such as TV, Film and Radio. He has worked extensively with other media companies such as ITV, Promo Cymru and Now in a minute media.

A presenter, content creator and writer, in his spare time Bablu likes to express his creativity through his life motto "laugh, learn, and inspire". He uses them when creating content for his YouTube channel and collaborating with other creatives.

Bablu has interviewed artists such as Mace The Great, Luke Rv, Hemes and Benji Wild all through Radio Platfform.

As the Outreach and Training Officer, Bablu hopes to help those with their creative aspirations as well as developing mandatory skills to host a radio show. He aims to make the sessions fun, entertaining and informative.

Safyan Iqbal

Safyan is our Marketing and Events Officer, who organises event and manages the Radio Platfform social media, as well as taking photographs to accompany the shows. 

He also works as a freelance filmmaker, actor, songwriter, and podcaster. Recently he  performed in ‘10 Nights’ with Graeae/Tamasha/Bush Theatre, facilitated workshops  and performs with Taking Flight Theatre. He has also worked as trainee website Content and Social Media Marketing Officer with Deaf Hub (Wales).

Safyan is also massively passionate about film and TV, and DC and Marvel comics.

Zoom Masterclasses

Throughout the year we organise masterclasses with radio gurus, past and present, learning what it takes to be successful in radio. Guests have included former Radio 1 Newsbeat Editor Rod McKenzie, Polly James from Capital Radio.

Live events

Mace The Great at Festival Of Voice 2021

We love producing shows in the studio but we also get out and about, meeting and interviewing musicians and artists at gigs and festivals too such as BoomtownFollyfest and Festival of Voice - all of which are produced as podcasts on our Mixcloud page.
