Radio Platfform is our training programme and youth-led radio station supporting young people to produce and present their own live radio shows and podcasts. We currently have two studios based in Cardiff and Porth.
Our current shows feature drum and bass, hip-hop, dub and grime, gaming, youth culture, politics, the environment, artist interviews and more.
LISTEN TO LIVE RADIOThere are now lots of ways for you to listen, from your smart speaker 'Alexa, listen to Radio Platfform' to Google Home. You can also find us on mobile, desktop and tablet and can listen again to any of our shows on Mixcloud.
Meet some of the team
Having graduated from training, some trainees choose to stay and work with us, taking on extra roles and responsibilities for 6-12 months, while others simply wish to continue presenting their own shows and honing their skills.
Edward Lee
Edward is our Outreach & Training Officer, who organises and delivers the Radio Platfform training course, as well as bespoke digital outreach workshops across the country.
He hosts a number of specialist podcasts, ranging from literature to ghost stories and everything in-between. Outside of the station he’s a writer and actor who’s worked in theatre, film and arts journalism.
He's recently written and performed in an award-nominated short film and was a member of The Other Room Theatre's inaugural Emerging Writers cohort. He also works as a freelance arts facilitator and is a massive film and comic book nerd.
James Prendergast
Grime loving James is our Events and Marketing Officer and looks after the station's social media, organises the other presenter's shows and presents his own show, Prendy's Power Hour.
He also runs his own live events brand The Shutdown Show which is focused on platforming Welsh music artists within MOBO genres.
James also hosts his own football podcast 'The Top Four Podcast' and is also an artist manager for the Welsh music agency BLOCS.
He also presents the Cardiff Music Award nominated radio show ‘The Raw Show’ with fellow Radio Platfform member, Ez Rah.
Luke Davies
Broadcast Assistant, Luke presents a number of shows including 'Youth Talk', 'Radio Greats' and 'Sgwrsio' and deals with all our tech-related issues to keep the station running smoothly.
Luke also presents a weekend programme for Radio Glamorgan, a hospital radio station that serves the patients of the University Hospital of Wales.
He also assists with a radio project called Artist Controlled Radio, a station dedicated to radio programmes presented by musicians and bands and when he’s not busy on the airwaves, Luke works as a Reprographics Officer in a local school.
Molly Palmer
Studio Co-ordinator Molly was a Future Generations Ambassador in Wales in 2020 and helps keep everything on track in the studio. She also hosts her own show, 'Life on the Inside'.
As well as being passionate about radio Molly loves to go to gigs and hang out at venues with her friends to socialise and see artists as music is a really big part of her life.
Molly also loves being creative, and during the second lockdown started a business selling handmade earrings and Welsh prints.

Zoom Masterclasses

Throughout the year we organise masterclasses with radio gurus, past and present, learning what it takes to be successful in radio. Guests have included former Radio 1 Newsbeat Editor Rod McKenzie, Polly James from Capital Radio.
Live events

We love producing shows in the studio but we also get out and about, meeting and interviewing musicians and artists at gigs and festivals too such as Boomtown, Follyfest and Festival of Voice - all of which are produced as podcasts on our Mixcloud page.
