A year on from their album, Dos Bebés being awarded the Welsh Music Prize; Rogue Jones return to Wales Millennium Centre to perform the record in its entirety – their first gig in Cardiff since 2017. As well as the usual 9-piece live band, expect some special guests and a 50-strong choir (Côr Taflais) to help bring the songs and stories to life.
Welsh Music Prize 2023 Winners, Rogue Jones – named after a distinguished canine family descended from Gelert, arguably Wales’ most famous dog – is West Walian duo Bethan Mai and Ynyr Morgan Ifan at its core, although the headcount increases exponentially when playing live.
Second album Dos Bebés sees the bands’ style maturing, but fortunately maturity has not dampened their spirit of invention. Bilingual, experimental popsters Rogue Jones are at once the impish, excited upstart hanging from the chandelier and the knowing veteran toe-tapping by the bar.
Dos Bebés is a musically diverse and eclectic album, about subjects including parenthood, UFOs, computer science, witchcraft and Welsh independence.
