Hailed as "the most successful and influential choreographer alive" by New York Times, American choreographer Mark Morris swings into town this April with his unique tribute to one of the best-selling albums of all time: The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Here are four fab reasons to see Pepperland.
1. THE DANCING
Sensational choreography from Mark Morris injects humour, fun and passion into this vibrant Mark Morris Dance Group production, with plenty of Sixties throwbacks, intimate duets and beautiful vignettes.
2. THE MUSIC
The live music will blow you away. A quirky ensemble of piano, sax, trombone, keyboard, percussion and a singer will perform Ethan Iverson's arrangements of classic Beatles hits, from 'Penny' Lane to 'When I'm 64', along with new work inspired by the album.
3. THE COSTUMES
You'll probably need to wear sunglasses as Elizabeth Kurtzman's costumes are bright and bold, complete with Sixties silhouettes, psychedelic patterns, sharp suits, mini-skirts and plenty of colour.
4. THE FEELING
Whether you're a Beatles fan or not, this exuberant dance work will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Just be careful when attempting any dance moves back home in the kitchen...
