Sensational shows this summer

We know it’s tempting to want to be outside all day every day during the summer (weather dependent of course) but let us coax you into our iconic building with our sensational shows and activities.

From musicals with pop playlists to the return of Nye with Michael Sheen, take a look at our top picks over the next few months.

& Juliet

16–28 June

Created by the Emmy-winning writer from “Schitt’s Creek,” this hilarious new musical flips the script on the greatest love story ever told and asks, what would happen next if Juliet didn’t end it all over Romeo?

Juliet’s new story bursts to life through a playlist of pop anthems, including Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time, Katy Perry’s Roar, and chart toppers Since U Been Gone, It’s My Life, Can’t Stop the Feeling and more — all from Max Martin, the genius songwriter/producer behind more #1 hits than any other artist this century, and his collaborators.

The Book of Mormon

1–19 July

This outrageous musical comedy follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get.

Written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, this one is definitely not for the faint hearted!

A “brilliant” (The Telegraph) brand new laugh-a-minute play which reimagines the lives of three of Britain's all-time greatest comedy heroes – Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Bob Monkhouse

Nye

22–30 August

If you missed this ‘valiant and valuable affirmation of the NHS’ (★★★★ Telegraph) during its incredible sell-out run last year, then fear not. Michael Sheen reprises his role as Nye Bevan in this celebration of the life and legacy of the man who transformed Britain’s welfare state.

And even if you did see it last time, we think it’s worth another watch – Jason Hughes (Midsomer Murders) will be taking on the role of Archie Lush this year.

Immersive storytelling

At our Weston Studio, we have Monsieur Vincent showing throughout the summer holidays, 21 July–1 September.

In the experience Marguerite, one of the last models of the painter Vincent van Gogh, takes the viewer on a journey through his palette of colours and famous works: in Provence, where he nearly lost himself in his quest for the "high yellow note"; the reds and greens of the cafés along the Rhône River; the vivid colours of the night sky; and in the fields of Northern France, where he explored the pure colours of exhilaration and passion.

Monsieur Vincent is a new extended experience which includes additional renowned works by the artist, including Café in Arles, Starry Night, and Portrait of Van Gogh.

Tickets are only £6!

Choose from Connie Orff and her glamorous framily (friends+family) celebrating Welsh language Drag in Dragwyl; a laugh-out-loud, immersive comedic tribute to Hollywood's most iconic blonde bombshell in One Night with Marilyn; or Janie Dee's Beautiful World Cabaret, where the West End star confronts the climate crisis and celebrates our beautiful world through song and spoken word with her special guest Gruff Rhys Jones, to name but a few.
