Mathew Milsom joined us in a consultancy capacity in 2006 after running his own successful business consultancy. As Finance Director he secured the financial stability of the business, making it one of the most successful Lottery funded millennium projects and became our Managing Director in 2013.

Mathew is committed to:

  • Ensuring the people of Wales benefit from the Centre.
  • Expanding young people's horizons through participation in the arts.
  • Bringing the arts to young people from disadvantaged communities in Wales.
  • Establishing the Centre as a leader of best practice in the arts and beyond.

Mathew is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

David Pearce – Director of Operations

David Pearce
David Pearce

David is part of the strategic leadership team and responsible for the leadership of all operations, facilities and estates, customer relations, business intelligence, technical and production management.

During his time here David has led several strategic developments including:

  • Establishing a world leading award winning team, who have been recognised for their estates management, customer care and sustainability.
  • Establishing the Centre as the first licensee for Tessitura in Europe. We later became one of the first European consortiums established to use the software and roll out to other organisations.
  • Creating a food and beverage offering, encouraging the use of ethically sourced, locally produced, produce to be used.

David has also held a number of senior management positions in a range of public and private organisations including the Theatre Royal (Plymouth) Ltd, where he was Operations Director.

David is the Vice Chair of the board of Tessitura Network, a former Trustee of the Association of Cultural Enterprises and a member of the Institute of Directors.

Graeme Farrow – Artistic Director


After completing an MBA at the University of Ulster Graeme pursued a highly successful career in the arts in Belfast and Londonderry.

In 2006 Graeme became director of the Belfast Festival at Queen's University, establishing the festival's reputation as a must-see arts festival and later became Head of Culture and Arts at Queens's, responsible for the Queen's Film Theatre and the Naughton Gallery.

Graeme was also responsible for the design and delivery of the £14m programme for the City of Culture in Derry, 

Ambitious and creative, Graeme also delivered the prestigious Turner Prize outside of England for the first time in its 29-year history and was first recipient of the Northern Ireland Arts Individual of the Year Award.

Since joining the Centre in 2016, Graeme has brought the critically acclaimed City of the Unexpected to Cardiff as well as Tiger Bay the Musical and the international arts festival, Festival of Voice which continues to grow.

Alison Copus - Communications & Marketing Director

Alison is responsible for overseeing our marketing, digital, brand and communications strategy.

Having specialised in international marketing Alison has worked in a wide range of industries, from financial services to airlines, digital media and education, with senior marketing roles at American Express, Virgin Atlantic and TripAdvisor.

At Virgin Atlantic, Alison was a part of the management team that grew the airline from 4 to 40 aircraft.

She launched The Branson School for Entrepreneurship in South Africa to provide a business education and seed funding for young people from the previously disadvantaged community. 

Whilst at TripAdvisor, Alison was initially responsible for European marketing and subsequently for the launch of new revenue streams globally.

Before returning to Wales, Alison was CMO for Nord Anglia Education and during her tenure, the international schools group grew to 43,000 students and doubled in value.

Elizabeth Burris - Finance & Corporate Services Director

Elizabeth joined the executive team of Wales Millennium Centre in September 2017 to lead the Centre’s Finance, HR and IT teams.

Elizabeth graduated in International Business with a Foreign Language and went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in Cardiff before joining Bank One, an American credit card company setting up operations in the UK.

During her time with the bank Elizabeth held a variety of senior roles within Finance, Risk and HR and was heavily involved with integration projects following the acquisition and merger of the credit card business.
