We fire imaginations by making live and digital experiences with artists, young people and communities. This includes our own productions, an international festival and a vibrant programme of work across our public spaces.
Alongside this we create opportunities to see the best international work in Wales from critically acclaimed musical theatre, comedy and dance to intimate, groundbreaking cabaret.
We create work that has the power to expand worlds, spark emotions and fire imaginations. Our productions amplify Welsh voices and showcase Welsh talent, entertaining and challenging audiences and celebrating Welsh culture in all its diversity.
Immersive experiences and digital innovation
We believe that exploring new forms of storytelling will enable more people to connect with stories in new and different ways. We curate and create a programme of digital work that pushes the boundaries of reality and possibility and support artists to explore their practice through alternative platforms and technologies.
Our annual international arts festival is inspired by the instrument that connects us all – the voice. With a mixture of free and ticketed events, Llais presents a programme of adventurous live music, thought-provoking performances and playful experiences for everyone to explore.
Cabaret is a bespoke space for showcasing new art forms, building communities, encouraging experimentation and nurturing local and emerging artists. A celebration of self-expression, our programme of comedy, cabaret, drag, music and spoken word brings together the very best in contemporary theatre and performance.
Cabaret is a safe and inclusive place to connect with friends, be entertained and discover something different.
We offer communities the opportunity to plan and curate their own events in our public spaces and perform at signature events like Llais. We make space to celebrate and share stories, histories and cultures; from St David’s Day and Butetown Carnival to our community Iftar event, we believe Wales Millennium Centre should be a creative home for everyone. These are just a few of the 160+ community-led performances, experiences and cultural celebrations which have welcomed 11,000+ people to the building.
Our iconic Donald Gordon Theatre welcomes world-class, award-winning musical theatre, opera, dance, theatre and comedy productions and over 420,000 audience members each year. Our contemporary auditorium is a beautiful and inspiring space designed to be one of the best places to watch shows such as the phenomenal Hamilton, Disney’s mesmerising The Lion King or outstanding productions from our resident organisation Welsh National Opera.
