It’s the bright and brilliant season we've all been waiting for. From West End musicals to free family fun, here are 10 unmissable treats for spring 2022.

1. FREE FAMILY CRAFTS

19 – 23 April, 11am – 3pm (11am – 2pm on 23 April)

Join us over the Easter holidays in the Glanfa and design your own colourful, garden guardian to protect a space that you love! We'll help you get started with your monster design: make and model, cut and stick or put pencil to paper.

It's free and you don't need to book, so just pop down. Our favourite design will be brought to life and turned into a giant inflatable over the summer, courtesy of giant inflatable designers, Designs in Air.

2. DREAMGIRLS

19 – 30 April 2022

Let your soul sing with the dazzling musical Dreamgirls, direct from the West End. Join three friends as they embark through the world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, testing their friendships to the very limit.

3. THE_CRASH.TEST

13 – 14 May + 24 June 2022

The_crash.test is a darkly playful take on our relationship with technology, incorporating motion capture puppetry, large scale projection, original composition, with an inclusive cast of performers on stage and via video link, for audiences both in person and online. The_crash.test will also be part of Hijinx's Unity Festival, returning this summer from 22 – 26 June.

4. GRANDMOTHER'S CLOSET (AND WHAT I FOUND THERE...)

Looking for a musical adventure that promises mischief and mashups, dresses and divas, and a whole lot of heart? Follow Luke as he stumbles along his journey of queer self-discovery through the glamorous spirit of his Nan.

5. SIX

3 – 14 May 2022

Putting the sass in Spring are the Tudor queens turned pop princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII as they to take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak in a celebration of sisterly sass-itude.

6. OI FROG & FRIENDS!

7 – 10 May 2022

Expect songs, puppets, laughs and more rhymes than you can shake a chime at in this action-packed stage adaptation of Kes Gray and Jim Field’s bestselling books Oi Frog!, Oi Dog! and Oi Cat!

7. SCHOOL OF ROCK

16 – 21 May 2022

It’s time to Laugh, Cry and most importantly Rock to this terrific 5 star hit musical. Prepare to have your heart warmed and mind blown in equal measure.

8. SINGIN' IN THE RAIN

23 – 28 May 2022

Make a splash this season and experience this glorious classic featuring high-energy choreography and sumptuous set design (including over 14,000 litres of water on stage every night) combine with the charm, romance and wit of one of the world’s best-loved films.

30 May – 4 June 2022

10. THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG

This comedy is guaranteed to leave you aching with laughter! Join The Cornley Drama Society who are putting on a 1920s murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong… does! This is the hilarious play we have all anticipated.
