Here comes the Urdd National Eisteddfod

We can’t wait to welcome the Urdd National Eisteddfod to Cardiff Bay from 27 May – 1 June 2019.

Our fabulous Donald Gordon Theatre will stage the competitions, so if your little ones are taking part, remember to get your wristbands ready and take a seat, as they get set to perform on one of the largest theatre stages in Europe.

The competitions range from singing, recitals, acting, music, dance and more and are the culmination of two previous rounds of competitions across Wales and some very early morning prelims. They're a dedicated bunch!

Some of Wales’s most famous faces such as Hollywood actor, Matthew Rhys and opera singer, Bryn Terfel competed in the Urdd Eisteddfod, so it’s a real stepping stone for young talent.

No competitors in your household? Not a problem. Just come along for a stroll  around the Maes (festival site) and take in the sights.

The Maes is free to enter and you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained including sports sessions, live music - including the fantastic Gwilym - plus delicious food stalls, arts and crafts and more.

So bring the whole family down to Cardiff Bay to enjoy this uniquely Welsh festival and one of the largest of its kind in Europe.
