Artist Opportunities for Spring 2020

In Spring 2020 our scratch nights return, independent producers and self-producing artist can join an action learning set and our Open Office goes on tour.

Ffwrnes Scratch Nights

Ffwrnes Scratch Nights are an opportunity to try out new ideas, new styles and raw concepts in front of an audience in our Weston Studio.

We want individuals and companies to apply with an idea that you might not get a chance to test in front of an audience otherwise. You might have done some work on the idea already or it could be completely new.

The audience on the night will ‘pay what they feel’ and 100% of the money taken will go directly to the artists involved in that evening's performance.

The Ffwrnes Scratch Nights will be made up of three, themed nights and two wild card nights where anything goes! We’ll work with between five and eight companies/ individuals depending on the number of applications we receive.

The three themes this spring are: Women's Voice, Communication and Secret.

As well as receiving 100% of the money taken on the night, the artists who form the spring 2020 cohort will be offered bespoke advice sessions and rehearsal space at the WMC in the run up to their scratch night plus technical support on the night from our team to allow them to make the most of the opportunity on offer.

Applications will close on 10 February 2020.

Action Learning Set for Producers and Self-Producing Artists

In 2020 we'll be hosting a facilitated Action Learning set for independent producers and self-producing artists.

Action Learning allows a group of individuals to discuss and think proactively about the problems they face currently and find creative solutions to solve these problems.

It also gives people the chance to step outside the pressures of their professional role and to view it from a different perspective.

The group will be chosen after an open call application process and will begin their series of six sessions in March 2020.

Applications will close on 17 February 2020.

Open Office expanded

We’re also expanding our Open Office project, offering more artists the opportunity to meet with our producers to discuss and pitch ideas and receive professional advice on developing and staging their work.

There will be opportunities to chat with Glesni Price-Jones, our Artist Development Associate and our Ffresh programmer, Peter Darney at the Centre; plus Open Office goes on tour, visiting other arts organisations all over Wales in 2020, beginning with Pontio in Bangor on 17 January (1pm-5pm in the Café).
