James and the Giant Peach

LEGO of your inner Dahl

Bring your little 'Dahlings' down to the Centre this Autumn and let your kids discover our Dahl inspired LEGO® installations dotted around the building.

And while they're off looking for LEGO, you can sneak off to Caffi for a cappuccino and a slice of cake.

Originally created by the Roald Dahl Story Company and LEGO® to celebrate Roald Dahl Day in 2017, six of Roald Dahl's most loved child heroes have been transformed into fabulous LEGO® sculptures.

Charlie, James, George, Sophie and Billy are appearing together in one location for the very first time and will be joined by Matilda from 4 December 2018 to coincide with the opening of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Matilda The Musical.

The six sculpture’s originally appeared individually at Eden Project in Cornwall, Manchester Central Library, Nottingham Railway Station, the Cambridge Theatre in London, the National Trust’s Giant’s Causeway and Cardiff Castle.

James and the Giant Peach

Created by LEGO® building company Bright Bricks, the Roald Dahl Story Company were looking for a new home and thought the Centre would be the ideal location.

Dial in to Dahl

Dahl was born in Wales, on 13 September 1916 to Norwegian parents and spent his early years in Cardiff.

He was baptised just around the corner at the Norwegian Church and the public space immediately outside our building is named after him too - Roald Dahl Plass.

In 2016 to mark Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday we partnered with National Theatre Wales to create City of the Unexpected with a wonderful programme of performances, events and activities throughout the city.
