We've rummaged through the archives to bring you ten 'must know' facts about the Urdd National Eisteddfod.

1. The first Urdd National Eisteddfod was held in Corwen Pavilion in 1929, and apart from wartime, it has taken place every year, ever since.
2. Today the Urdd National Eisteddfod is the largest travelling youth festival in Europe with around 15,000 young people taking part in 2019.
3. To date there have been 84 Eisteddfods which have toured from Anglesey to Monmouth, Caernarfon to Cardiff and everywhere in between.
4. Every year the festival attracts around 90,000 visitors to the Maes (festival site).
5. The Urdd currently has 55,000 members.
6. It’s exactly 10 years since the Urdd National Eisteddfod last visited Cardiff.
7. Mistar Urdd, the Urdd’s famous mascot was born in 1976 so is 43 years old this year and has changed design many times over the years. See if you can spot him during this year's festival.
8. This year Welsh musician, Mei Gwynedd has recorded a new version of the iconic 'Mistar Urdd' song which was recorded by children from 20 local schools and is available to download.
9. The Urdd National Eisteddfod has long been a stepping stone for Welsh talent. Previous competitors include Casi Wyn (pop star), Matthew Rhys (Hollywood actor), Bryn Terfel (opera singer), Caryl Parry Jones (Welsh broadcaster and singer) and Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones).
10. The Urdd are a resident company here at the Centre and their city sleepover camp welcomes 22,000 children every year.
