Summer workshops in Welsh-medium schools

Our Creative Learning team lead fun workshops for all ages, in schools and within the wider community. Here’s a snapshot of some of their workshops at Welsh medium schools over the summer term.

Elen and Heledd led a podcasting workshop at Ysgol Plasmawr for year 6 pupils, as part of their transition day, ahead of starting high school this September

The aim of the day was to highlight the value of the Welsh language beyond school – to show that it’s possible to enjoy hobbies, day-to-day life and careers in the Welsh language. There are plans in place to offer another similar day in September.

Elen and Gweni spent some time with year 4 pupils at Ysgol Coed-Y-Gôf. Over the course of a week in July the pupils got creative with the Mabinogi tale of Blodeuwedd using drama activities to analyse and interpret the story, literacy skills to create storyboards and creative skills to create Shadow Puppet Theatre.

A creative workshop was also held for year 2 pupils at Ysgol Hamadryad by Elen and Heledd. The pupils spent time bringing the book ‘Syrpreis Handa’ to life. They used drama skills to perform, and created unique masks of the animals that appear in the story. A fun-filled day!
