Work in progress readings of two new plays, presented by Unsolicited Theatre
Bump by Kelly Jones
At 15, Reggie has dropped out of school to become a co-parent to her new-born baby nephew. 15 years later he’s grown up to be someone she really despises.
Bump is a new one-person play exploring the nature/nurture debate in a world where political views in family units are polarised.
What happens if someone you have raised grows up to become someone you hate; are you responsible?
Bully by Tom Wentworth
Disabled people are sweet. Disabled people are kind. Disabled people are innocent, right?
What happens when a super fit, gay rugby player, Eddie, becomes disabled in a sporting accident?
He's angry and frustrated, but rather than accepting his new-found circumstances, he lashes out and becomes a bully.
Used to being at the top of the heap, Eddie soon finds himself at the bottom of the disability ladder. After all, he's only the 'newbie' but soon the bully is being bullied...
Bully is a new hard-hitting monologue about contemporary disability.
Bump/Bully are presented by new company Unsolicited Theatre, founded by playwrights Kelly Jones and Tom Wentworth to tell bold stories for contemporary wales and beyond.
