When Geraint returns to Wales to run a motorbike project with young offenders in Neath, he thinks he also needs to fix salt-of-the-earth youth workers, Ann and Sylvia.
A drama at work forces him to confront the truth, that he needs to fix himself. Far from the rejection and ridicule he fears, he finds that they still think he’s “A Tidy Boy”. A scratch script-in-hand reading of a brand new LGBTQ+ coming-of-age comedy-drama by Peter Darney.
Writer Peter Darney's play 5 Guys Chillin’ was named one of “Ten Plays That Shaped Queer Theatre History” in the Evening Standard. It’d directed by Catherine Paskell, Artistic Director of Dirty Protest. 'There are few people making theatre this exciting in Wales today” The Guardian. The play is produced by The Gwyn Hall, Neath’s community arts space with support from Arts Council of Wales, Welsh Government, and National Lottery.
We don’t want to spoil anyone’s experience of a show at Wales Millennium Centre and therefore avoid giving too much away when promoting the play. It’s often the unexpected, shared moments and plot twists that capture the audience and create the debate and conversation beyond the performance.
However we’re also conscious that these moments can be particularly distressing for some individuals. If there are certain themes that you know would cause you extreme distress or allergies which could cause you discomfort and you’d like to speak to one of our team to find out more about a show before you book, you can call the Ticket Office on 029 2063 6464 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
