‘Seasonal’ events in December usually mean Christmas – with all the bells and whistles. This ‘Winter Afternoon’ is more directly seasonal, taking us to the chilly snowscapes of Russia, as heard through the musical imaginations of Tchaikovsky and the heir to his high Russian romanticism, Alexander Glazunov.
BBC Radio 3 New Generations Artist Anastasia Kobekina joins London-based Hungarian conductor, Gergely Madaras, for Tchaikovsky’s ever-popular Rococo Variations.
Conductor: Gergely Madaras
Cello: Anastasia Kobekina
Glazunov: ‘Winter’ from The Seasons
Tchaikovsky: Variations on a Rococo Theme
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 1 ‘Winter Dreams’
