Ffwrnes Scratch Night 3 April

3 April 2020 - POSTPONED

Weston Studio

Unfortunately, Ffwrnes Scratch Night on 3 April is being postponed due to the current situation with coronavirus. We will contact ticket bookers directly with more information.

Scratch nights are an opportunity for artists to try new ideas, different styles and raw concepts.

They might ask for feedback to help shape their next phase of development or just see how it feels to perform their work in front of a live audience for the first time.

This April we’re hosting a series of four Scratch nights, each with at least three pieces.

Take a chance on something new and book your seat for just £1 – then bring along some cash and ‘Pay What You Feel’ at the end of the night with 100% of the donations going directly to the artists.

Rosey Brown – Repetition

Is repetition a punishment, or an escape? Can drudgery become a dance, a chant, a ritual of devotion?

Rosey Brown will use voice loop pedals, keyboard and clarinet to create a soundscape exploring the theme of repetition – talking about repetitive tasks, religious litanies, musical phenomena, history repeating itself…

Gundija Zandersona and Hanan Issa – My Body Can House Two hearts

"Two hearts – a strength none can take; love’s a lake and the world is thirsty."

Merging two art forms, Gundija Zandersona in collaboration with Hanan Issa, will present a movement and spoken word piece exploring the theme of holding multiple cultural identities as women and mothers.

Dominika Rau – Daddy

‘Have you ever met your father?’ The answer doesn’t really matter.

Dominika Rau becomes a voice for women who grew up without fathers or their active contribution in their daughter’s lives. Every story is different, but the outcome is pretty much the same - souls misunderstood by society, with a lot of love to give. Daddy is an experimental autobiographical play as a reflection of many female issues that seem to be ignored in public conversations.

Tom Elstob – Do It Yourself Radio Show

Join us on a journey into the soundscape of your story. Tom Elstob will experiment with making a live DIY audio experience to delight the imagination. This is a scratch of a family show – but this time only the adults are invited.

Scratch nights are part of our commitment to nurture talent in Wales, provide a platform for new voices and fuel fresh trains of thought.
