Step into the hypnotizing world of Shafeeq Shajahan with a cabaret odyssey that peels back layers of his queer, Muslim heritage.
An homage to the 1978 Bollywood film, Satyam Shivam Sundaram is a contemporary exploration of identity and metamorphosis, celebrating the journey of reconnecting with a home left behind.
In collaboration with Cypriot composer Vasilis Konstantinides, the duo fuse world music to mirror the sagas of their ancestry with iconic cinematic references.
Inspired by the sultry rebellion of Bollywood actresses, Shafeeq’s queer Muslim voice cuts through the cacophony of an increasingly alienating world.
Expect to be both enlightened and entertained as he tells tales of his upbringing as a ‘thinking Muslim’, his experiences on Grindr, and his pilgrimage to Haj.
Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram is a magical musical journey, revealing the truth, divinity, and beauty that unite us all.
