Why is stage combat used? How is it kept safe? What forms of media is it used in? How can it be a beneficial skill for working within the arts? This course will tell you!
We will discuss how to properly and safely choreograph and perform stage combat in the style of a theatre performance. Then, in pairs, you will combine all you’ve learned to perform a scripted scene of your choice from a play, film or TV series, combining character work and stage combat that you’ve choreographed yourselves. This will give you the opportunity to put all you’ve learned (with an emphasis on teamwork and safety) into action and support each other by viewing your performances.
The course will encourage you to collaborate and communicate your ideas, supporting the development of your own creative style. In addition to this, you will have hopefully developed an interest in a new skill and will be confident in your abilities.
