100 VOICES NHS is an immersive work of sound art giving audiences the opportunity to listen to 100 people they would never normally meet.
100 people in one time, in one place.
Heard as unique individuals.
Speaking as one community in one space.
Created after five months of research, partnership and conversations with staff, patients and visitors in 12 hospitals across 4 NHS Foundation Trusts in Bristol, London, Cambridge and Preston. 100 people reflect on their daily lives and work, their challenges, joys, inspirations and losses.
The result is a unique and multi-layered snapshot of the NHS, expressed directly by people rarely heard; those working in service, patients, visiting local communities and the invisible, extended workforce of the NHS.
4 PORTRAITS, four newly commissioned songs, are interwoven within the spoken word recordings which are then further embedded within an original musical score. Each song is voiced by a professional singer, playing a fictional character: the midwife, porter, manager and patient.
100 VOICES is experienced within a specially designed as a unique installation at Bocs, immersing audiences in 360 degree sound. 100 anonymous people are heard as individuals and also in digital transformations as a crowd, as a flock of voices, as a sonic tidal wave.
