Ages 14 – 25

24 – 28 February 2025

Wales Millennium Centre

Are you an aspiring filmmaker? Want to learn how to use film for self-expression and tell your stories in an abstract way?

Ffilm Platfform is back! This free four day intensive course will teach you all about the unique world of Avant-Garde and arthouse cinema and give you an insight into making films outside the mainstream.

Our series of dynamic, fast-paced workshops will give you hands-on experience with high-end gear and help you learn the fundamentals of crafting unconventional narratives on screen. You'll master skills on behind the camera, produce your own experimental shots and learn key editing skills, all while taking inspiration from different artforms and movements.

Perfect for those who’ve taken part in our music video, documentary courses and horror courses earlier this year or anyone new who’s eager to learn. You’ll gain not just practical filmmaking skills but also delve into film theory and other creative techniques that can be easily applied to your own projects – even if you don’t have access to top-tier equipment.

Book now to secure your spot and join us this February half term and experience film creation in a totally new way.

Who is teaching the course?

Jamie Panton, a seasoned videographer with a decade of experience, will guide you every step of the way. Starting from humble beginnings with just a DSLR and sound recorder, Jamie knows how to create magic on a budget. His work spans documentaries, music videos, and corporate projects, often focusing on intimate stories around mental health. With a love for avant-garde cinema, Jamie's passion for filmmaking is infectious, and he can't wait to see what you’ll create in his workshops.

Do I need any skills or experience to take part?

No – this course is open to all levels and abilities.

When is it?

The course runs for 4 days between 24 and 28 February from 12pm to 6pm (excluding 26 February).
