The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year. There’s a tale told this time of year: the Endless Battle between Winter’s Holly King and Summer’s Oak King.
Let’s honour tradition and this natural seasonal cycle, as our ancestors have for millennia, by celebrating the return of the light and brighter days with a puppetry interpretation of this tale.
Together we’ll inspire our imaginations through seasonal folklore and create a Holly King and Oak King, twin ‘rubbish’ puppets, using sustainable and recyclable materials, to retell this Light of Winter story.
Intergenerational workshops- younger participants aged 8 years & below will need adult supervision and support.
Start time: 10am & 2pm
Running time: 4 hours
