Laurie Anderson is one of the most influential and innovative artists of the past four decades. A writer, director, composer, visual artist, musician and vocalist, she has consistently pushed creative boundaries since the release of her breakthrough work, O Superman, in 1981.
Her extraordinary career has spanned music, performance, film, visual art and technology, with work presented at leading museums, theatres and institutions around the world, including Harvard University and NASA. A Grammy-winning artist and recipient of the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Anderson has collaborated with a remarkable range of creative figures, including Brian Eno, Philip Glass and her life partner as well as collaborator, Lou Reed.
Making her first-ever appearance in Wales as part of Llais 2026, Anderson presents Friends and Teachers – a special performance of portraits drawn from her book-in-progress. Blending storytelling, wit and insight, this bespoke event offers a rare opportunity to experience new work from one of contemporary culture’s most distinctive voices.
