A Journey of Sensation and Virtuosity
Become immersed in an ‘evocation of the senses’ where the piano serves as both a delicate paintbrush and a thundering orchestra. From the poetic tenderness of Schumann’s Arabeske to the shimmering aquatic textures of Ravel’s Jeux d’eau, today’s programme explores the profound connection of sound, story and soul.
Experience the romantic yearning of Liszt’s Italian-inspired sonnets, the architectural brilliance of Bach’s Violin Partita through the eyes of the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, the emotional depth of Chopin’s great Fourth Ballade, culminating in the technical fireworks of Kapustin’s jazz-infused Variations. Join pianist, Simon Shewring, for an afternoon of piano music that promises to linger long after the final note has faded.
