Grandmother's Closet was a Wales Millennium Centre and Luke Hereford Production which was performed in our Weston Studio from 20 - 23 April 2022.

This autobiographical play by first-time writer (and long-time theatre-maker) Luke Hereford examined queer identities, and how Luke learned to love his with the help of his grandmother and her colourful wardrobe.

Growing up in a close-knit south Wales community, Luke Hereford relied on his Nan as a personal cheerleader to guide him through his queer childhood.

"Grandmother’s Closet is a play about escapism and how crucial a tool it is for queer people, so of course it exists mostly in the space where I discovered how powerful escapism can be."
