Llais x BBC Horizons: L E M F R E C K, Nookee + SOURCE

13 October 2023

Llais and BBC Horizons/Gorwelion have joined forces to bring you a spectacular lineup of Welsh talent at this year's festival. Expect an evening of some of the most exciting emerging artists and special live collaborations. This event will form part of BBC Introducing Live, a UK-wide celebration of young, undiscovered talent from across the country.

L E M F R E C K

L E M F R E C K is a Welsh artist, producer, writer and founder of the Noctown collective who excels in unique storytelling through music and self-directed visuals. Named as the Welsh Music Prize runner up in 2022, L E M F R E C K’s early years as a gospel session artist and grime producer really shaped his production. He is often compared to artists that sit in the electronic space like Sampha, and combines his grime upbringing with trained musicianship to add a raw UK RAP sound. Without a label nor a radio plugger, he has already gained 14 spot plays on BBC Radio 1 including on the Jack Saunders Future Sounds show and as 1Xtra’s Track of the Week.

NOOKEE

Fronted by identical twin sisters and held by a formidable rhythm section, NOOKEE cook up a big ol’ soup of soul food, bringing you a mammajam of friends and throwing all sorts of flavours in the pot! Join the celebration - come get you some NOOKEE…

As part of their set, there’ll be an exclusive live performance of ‘Smile’, their BBC Horizons Launchpad funded track that showcases a number of rising talents in the Welsh music scene, plus some more surprises to be unveiled.

SOURCE

SOURCE is a newly formed collective swiftly making movements in the Cardiff music scene. A blend of soulful melodies and rich harmony come together in their music to form a new wave of sound that captures the essence of neo-soul and RnB.

Their music provokes thoughts surrounding spirituality, freedom of self and vulnerability. They believe that honesty and intention are important within music and strive to work with artists who embody these principles.
