Learning & Participation
There’s a load more on offer at the Centre than a sit down theatre experience. As well as the Donald Gordon Theatre and Weston Studio programme there is a selection of year-round opportunities for schools and communities - young and old, all aimed at enabling our visitors to get closer to art. As well as a range of show-linked activity that changes season to season, there is a host ongoing opportunities that people can come along and get involved with. Here’s a taste of what we have on offer but if you require any further information on specific events, activities relating to a particular show, or just a chat about what we might be able to offer you then feel free to get in touch.

Glanfa Stage performances
We programme a broad range of free activity that takes place in our Glanfa foyer space daily for people to enjoy while passing through, chilling out for lunch or a coffee or simply enjoying the space. This activity could be music, dance, song, visual art poetry or a combination and will last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. If you are looking for a performance opportunity then please get in touch but bear in mind that we do programme about 6 months in advance.
Tour & Talk package
If you are interested in getting into the arts then we might be able to help. In the same vein if you work with young people who need more details for coursework or information about theatre in general or are simply interested in learning more about the arts then we are always open to offering as much information as we can give you.
We can offer groups a backstage tour of the Centre and a talk on any area at the Centre from a specialist member of our staff - from Marketing to Events Management, Programming to Education, Technical to Front of House. We can tailor the talk to your groups needs and to address particular questions and objectives.
Pricing for the Tour & Talk package is £6 per head for individuals / small groups, £5.50 for 25+, £5.00 for 50+
Show Visits / Workshops
If you’d like to book as a group to come and see a particular show in either the Donald Gordon Theatre or the Weston Studio you can do so directly through our groups sales team via the main ticket office number, 08700 40 2000. You can usually claim good discounts when booking for more than 10 people and some visiting companies will offer workshops linked to the show so it’s always worth enquiring when booking.
Teacher Training Days
Working with Careers Wales, the Centre hold teacher training days looking at particular areas within the arts. In 2010 we hope to offer training days focusing on 3 areas; Technical: How to put on a show at your school; Movement: How to choreograph your school show; Shakespeare: Dissecting Shakespeare for the classroom.
For information on other participatory activities including tea dances; commuter classes; pre-school music sessions and plenty more check out the Activities & Events page on the website.
