Drag queen Polly Amourous pretending to eat a copy of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol

Naughty and nice! Meet the XXXmas Carol company

We've teamed up with Big Loop Theatre Company to bring you Cardiff's most chaotic anti-panto ever!

Meet the six mischievous artists who've been working together to create and perform XXXmas Carol, taking over our Wolfson Studio this December. With drag, circus, burlesque and song, their bizarre retelling of Charles Dickens’ yuletide nightmare will have you gagging for some stuffing.

Polly Amorous

Lock up your lads! It’s Cardiff’s sweetheart and all-round good-time gal. Apart from her domination of the city's nightlife as a drag act and performer, Polly enjoys trips to the theatre, Tesco’s fizzy strawberry laces and short walks on the beach.

"It's been nice to branch out and work with types of performance acts that I don’t work with that often and it’s been great to devise – I haven’t done that since school."

Foo Foo LaBelle

Over the past 30 years, Foo Foo LaBelle (aka Stephanie Gawne) has been a pantomime cat, dinosaur mascot, elephant rider, belly dancer, burlesque performer, singer and mum! At 50, she's still choreographing routines in her bedroom and sharing her maverick hurly-burly with Cardiff’s audiences.

"What have I loved about working on XXXmas Carol so far? The amazing creative team around me."

Rahim El Habachi

Rahim is a playwright, actor and belly dancer from Morocco. Through his art, he brings visibility to the issues affecting the community of LGBT asylum seekers and refugees in the UK.

"I love how diverse the cast is and how different the art forms are, I'm learning so much from each cast member. I'm enjoying that we are building the show as we go and making changes as we go."

Eric McGill

A graduate of the National Circus School in Montreal, Eric started his acrobatic career at the age of seven as a competitive trampolinist. He's worked in cabarets, big-tented shows and outdoor festivals around the world with his breathtaking swinging trapeze and aerial straps acts.

"It’s a really great and supportive atmosphere. Probably the most time I’ve ever spent with other queer people."

Bunmi Odumosu

Bunmi's performances come served with high-energy entertainment and a bit of sass on the side. As a circus artist and dancer, she brings magnificent movement and impressive skill. Oh, and she's also a chemical engineer.

"I love the diversity of the performers. We come from such a varied background in performance arts, cultures and Christmas experiences. It has been such a joy to have the creative liberty to create the show from scratch with the team."

Geraint Owen

Geraint is a director, composer, writer, and pianist from Cardiff, working across theatre and TV. He's brilliant at everything! Don't believe us? His theatre credits include the award-winning original musical Rust at the Edinburgh Fringe.

"I love how joyful the show is. The six of us in the cast come from very different backgrounds culturally and artistically and the result of putting them all together is magic."
