1. Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

16 and 17 October, Donald Gordon Theatre

The Trocks are full of froth and frou-frou wherever they go, and right now they’re coming to you.

This all-male comedy ballet company are beloved worldwide for their hilarious homages to classical ballet.

Every performance brims with testosterone hiding behind the tutus, daring physicality in the blush-pink ballet pumps, immaculate technique under fierce false eyelashes and impeccable comic timing peeping out from the prima ballerina attitude. En pointe.

2. Passion

23 October, Donald Gordon Theatre

In this searingly beautiful and sensuous new work for voice and body, dance and opera meld to form an intimate portrayal of the pain and passion of two lovers forced apart to separate worlds.

Mixed with the haunting sounds of harpsichord and Arabic oud, Pascal Dusapin’s gleaming, shifting score performed by the London Sinfonietta conveys a timeless world in which the movement of dancers and singers plays out a universal story of grief and desire.

3. Roots

5 and 6 November, Dance House

Three dances, by home-grown talent and world-famous choreographers. Three bite-sized stories, each very different to the last.

From a messy and tragi-comic tale to a dark and liberating Mafia-inspired piece in black lace, via a soulful Mediterranean fusion of hip-hop, ballet and street styles, this is a guided tour through contemporary dance.

And with open discussion at the end of each piece, you can ask all the questions you like.

4. Flying Atoms

9 and 10 November, Dance House

Professors Gusto and Hitch work hard in the Laboratory of Curiosity answering questions: how do birds stay in the air?

Where does the moon go in the daytime? Only one thing is certain – the universe is filled with wonder and not everything is as it seems.

A playful, interactive show, wowing audiences with high-flying aerial dance, a magical soundtrack and stunning design. Suitable for everyone aged six and over.

5. The Last Five Years

9–17 November, Weston Studio

Aspiring author Jamie and struggling actress Cathy are two twenty-something New Yorkers.

Their love story over the course of five years falls together and apart – and we fall with them, as the stunning lyrics tell their story in opposite directions.

Outstanding musical talent from Tony award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, brought to life by two singers and two Deaf dancers with beautiful choreography by the award-winning Mark Smith, this emotionally charged musical delivers issue and therapy all in one.

6. Saturday Night Fever

27 November–1 December, Donald Gordon Theatre

British favourite Richard Winsor (Dorian Grey, Edward Scissorhands) thrusts into the lead role for this all-new stage version of the Travolta classic.

The team that created smash hit Cilla the Musical will have you jiving in the aisles as you root for Tony Manero, with those Bee Gees classics you love from one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time.
