Behind the Label

27 – 28 November

Weston Studio

Theatre Versus Oppression and Wales Millennium Centre

Behind the Label is an applied theatre project, giving a voice to people who’ve experienced difficulties such as homelessness, low self-esteem, addiction and mental health issues.

Over several months, the group take part in drama workshops, learn theatre and life skills and ultimately create and perform their own hard-hitting theatre production, sharing eye-opening personal stories on stage.

“Its whole purpose is to give a megaphone to those whose voices usually go unheard”

Buzz Magazine

The project began in 2016 with a partnership between Theatre Versus Oppression, The Wallich and Wales Millennium Centre. This is now the third production from the group, featuring some new people, new stories and new rollercoaster journeys.

Come and listen to the voiceless. Hear their stories. And understand their fight to challenge the labels that they’ve been given by society.

“It's made me realise that I can own what I've been through, and not let it own me”
