Welcome to Beast, a comedic exploration into the life of a trans person in 2019 by Australian stand up, Krishna Istha.
Beast tackles issues of stereotypes, race, hormone replacement therapy, sexual fluidity and the reality of living while trans, using avant-garde comedy and experimental theatre.
Istha is renowned internationally for work that looks at transformations, gender politics and queer culture using subversive text, cabaret and comedy.
Directed by Zoe Coombs Marr (Best Show Melbourne Comedy Festival 2016, Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee 2016), Beast throws a refreshingly daft nonsense-bomb at the binary everything.
This part stand up comedy, part performance art piece is a self-help comedy for the oppressed. Turns out, testosterone-fuelled comedy isn’t what we all thought.
