Celebrated American choreographer Mark Morris swings into town with his unique tribute to one of the best-selling albums of all time: The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
“A gorgeously entertaining and witty tribute to the classic Beatles album”
A bold new score from Ethan Iverson includes reinventions of some of the album’s songs including Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, With a Little Help From My Friends, A Day in the Life, When I'm Sixty-Four, Within You Without You and Penny Lane, interspersed with six Pepper-inspired original pieces, all performed live by a remarkable seven-piece band.
Visually on the cusp of Carnaby Street, this exuberant dance work teases out the album’s eccentric charm with the playful and joyous originality that the Mark Morris Dance Group is famous for.
“A truly joyous, celebratory work of art. A brilliant homage to one of the great rock albums.”
“The choreography is deft and nuanced, at times skimming across the music's bright surface, at times digging deeper. ”
“The most successful and influential choreographer alive, and indisputably the most musical”
