Come and visit us this winter to see Azadi, an exhibition by artist Naz Syed of Ziba Creative that celebrates community and Persian culture and heritage through beautiful pom-poms of unity, gratitude and hope from across the globe.
Naz is a proud Welsh, Iranian, socially engaged visual artist. She is passionate about craftivism, community and spreading kindness through creativity.
Explore a pom-pom fruit platter where you can celebrate a life full of colour and joy as part of the Persian festival Shab-e Yalda. ‘Yalda Night’ is the longest and darkest night (Yaldā means rebirth of the sun) and it's a celebration of the victory of light over darkness.
During Shab-e Yalda a transformation takes place – the waiting is over, light shines and goodness prevails. Fruit and nuts are eaten, with pomegranates and watermelons being particularly significant. The red colour of these fruit symbolises the crimson hues of dawn and glow of life.
Part of the exhibition connects with the patterns and magical light of Iranian architecture inspired by the Nasir-Ol Molk Mosque in Shiraz, Iran, known as the rainbow/pink mosque, which comes alive with the sunlight in a kaleidoscope of colours reflected from the beautiful mosaic patterns. This was created by Naz in collaboration with Kate Verity and the community.
Jina Mahsa Amini’s death has sparked a wave of resistance in Iran. Moved and inspired by the Iran uprising, Mahsa’s portrait has been created by Naz in collaboration with Consumersmith and is represented within the pom-pom wall.
You are invited to add your own pom-pom along with messages of hope, unity and solidarity with the people in Iran who are suffering injustice and fighting for their freedom and the women who are protesting for basic human rights and in doing so putting their lives at risk.
Don’t forget to visit our trail too where you can experience all kinds of craftivism and creativity including protest pom-poms, a giant community pom-pom, a wall of unity and you can even wear a pom-pom magic carpet cape!
Yalda event
On 18 December there will be Yalda event in our Glanfa area between 4–7pm with live music, a Persian funk music DJ, spoken word, a craftivism workshop, a fashion show and more.
Come and join in a workshop!
Throughout December and January Naz will be hosting pop up pom-pom workshops. There are a few ways you can take part and get involved:
- Add to the giant community pom-pom to keep it growing
- Create your own pom-pom and add a message of solidarity for Iran which will be added to the wall of unity
- Create your own protest pom-pom and add a mini banner to raise awareness for the Iran Revolution
Everything that you create will build collectively over the time of the installation.
There will also be creative banner workshops with Art Clwb to help support the protests happening in Cardiff for Iran suitable for everyone aged 7+.
The workshops will be held on the following dates from 11am – 3pm: 24 December, 27 December (12pm - 3pm), 4 January, 7 January and 14 January.

زمستان امسال از نمایشگاه آزادی دیدن کنید. این نمایشگاه که توسط هنرمند ناز سید از (Ziba Creative) اجرا شده است و در آن از طریق پوم-پوم های زیبای اتحاد، قدردانی و امید فرهنگ و میراث ایرانی را در سراسر جهان، تجلیل می کند. ناز(Naz) یک هنرمند تجسمی پرافتخار ولزی، ایرانی و اجتماعی است. او عاشق جنبش صنایع دستی(craftivism)، اجتماع و گسترش مهربانی از طریق خلاقیت است.
از سینی میوه پوم-پوم دیدن کنید، در آنجا میتوانید به عنوان بخشی از جشن ایرانی «شب یلدا» زندگی پر از رنگ و شادی را جشن بگیرید. شب یلدا طولانی ترین و تاریک ترین شب سال است (یلدا به معنای تولد دوباره خورشید) و جشن پیروزی نور بر تاریکی است. در شب یلدا تحولی رخ میدهد - انتظار به پایان میرسد، نور میدرخشد و خوبی غالب میشود. در این شب میوه و آجیل مصرف میشود و انار و هندوانه از اهمیت ویژه ای برخوردار است. رنگ قرمز این میوه نماد رنگهای زرشکی سحر و درخشش زندگی است.
بخشی از این نمایشگاه بر الگوها و نور جادویی معماری ایرانی، الهام گرفته از مسجد نصیرالملک شیراز، ایران، که با نام های رنگین کمان یا مسجد صورتی نیز شناخته می شود، متمرکز شده است که در آن نور خورشید به شکل کالیدوسکوپی از رنگ ها میدرخشد و به دلیل الگوی موزاییکها انعکاس زیبایی ایجاد میشود. این نمایشگاه توسط «ناز» با همکاری کیت وریتی و انجمن ایجاد شد.
مرگ ژینا مهسا امینی موجی از مقاومت را در ایران برانگیخت. پرتره مهسا با الهام از قیام ایران توسط ناز و با همکاری Consumersmith ساخته شده است و در داخل دیوار پوم-پوم نمایش داده شده است. از شما دعوت میشود پوم-پوم خود را همراه با پیامهای امید، اتحاد و همبستگی با مردمی که در ایران از بی عدالتی رنج می برند و برای آزادی خود می جنگند و زنانی که برای حقوق اولیه بشری اعتراض می کنند و در این راه جان خود را به خطر میاندازند، اضافه کنید.
فراموش نکنید همچنین که از جشنواره ما دیدن کنید، جایی که می توانید انواع خلاقیت و مهارت از جمله پوم-پوم های اعتراضی، پوم-پوم های بزرگ، دیوار وحدت را ببینید و حتی می توانید یک شنل فرش جادویی پوم-پوم بپوشید!

ناز در سراسر دسامبر و ژانویه میزبان کارگاه های پاپ آپ پوم-پوم خواهد بود. از چند طریق می توانید در آن شرکت کنید و مشارکت کنید:
● برای حفظ رشد آن، پوم-پوم را به جامعه وسیع اضافه کنید
● پوم-پوم خود را بسازید و پیام همبستگی باایران را به آن اضافه کنید، به دیوار وحدت اضافه خواهد شد.
● پوم-پوم اعتراضی خود را بسازید و یک بنر کوچک برای افزایش آگاهی برای انقلاب ایران اضافه کنید
هر چیزی که ایجاد می کنید در طول زمان نصب به صورت جمعی ساخته میشود.
همچنین کارگاههای تبلیغاتی خلاقانه با Art Clwb برای کمک به حمایت از اعتراضاتی که در کاردیف برای ایران انجام میشود، برگزار خواهد شد.

جشن یلدا
در 18 دسامبر مراسم شب یلدا در منطقه گلانفا ما بین ساعت 15 تا 19 با اجرای موسیقی زنده، یک دی جی موسیقی فانک فارسی، سخنرانی، کارگاه جنبش هنر دستی، نمایش مد و غیره برگزار می شود.
این نمایشگاه با مشارکت مرکز هنری Llantarnam Grange، Creative Lives، شورای هنر ولز و Age Cymru ساخته شده است.
