Wanted: innovative exhibition curator

Voices of Change will be a community-led, multimedia arts exhibition encapsulating the lives, hopes and dreams of our audiences and communities at a unique moment in history.

During lockdown, in a time of disconnection, we asked out audiences to connect through creation. In a time of introspection, we asked them to look to the future, to free their minds to imagine what life, the arts and the world could and should be like.

Our audiences responded with a wealth of materials - from music to knitting, dance, poetry, film, photography and so much more - which we aim to put on show across our building, with a community artist-led piece at its centre, taking the form of a giant crochet tree.

Job opportunity

We are now looking for an inspiring, innovative curator to help us pull the work of our community together and put it on display. We envisage our exhibition being for small, guided groups being led through our iconic building, potentially over three floors and in a range of spaces.

We're looking for someone to lead the way in grouping and displaying the work, and managing the experience of that journey in a way that inspires, provokes and connects.

This is a part-time/ non-exclusive freelance role, working with our in-house teams, and reporting to our Community Engagement Producer, Gemma Hicks.

We’re offering a day rate of £150 based on approximately 40 days’ work covering the run up to the opening, currently planned for the second bank holiday weekend on 28 May and any tweaks that need to be made once open.

The application deadline for this role is 1 February. If all of the above excites you, we’d like to hear from you. Please send CVs and expressions of interest to:

Along with your CV send us a covering note no longer than one side of A4 or a three minute video telling us:

  • A bit about you and your relevant experience
  • Why this project excites you
  • What your personal wish for the future would be

Applicants we wish to take further will be invited to a Zoom chat over a virtual coffee.
