Interested in a career in Costume? Join us for a free two-day introduction to Costume Design.
During the two days, you will learn a variety of creative techniques for designing costumes for stage and screen, and at the end of the course you will have created your own imaginative designs around characters and styles that are unique to you.
The course will look at some of the skills needed to be a costume designer and guide you through creative processes such as character breakdown, 3D development of ideas in paper, costume illustration and exploring different materials. This course also looks at possible career paths and further training in the costume department, or if costume design is something that’s completely new to you it is also an opportunity to come along and have a go!
About the course leader
Sandra is a Cardiff-based theatre designer and maker who completed an MA in Design for Performance at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2017. Before moving to Wales, Sandra worked as a prop maker at Madame Tussauds Wax Figure Productions and has also created bespoke costumes and props for productions in London’s West End. In the past few years, Sandra has worked with companies such as Wales Millennium Centre, National Theatre Wales and Sherman Theatre and is most excited when she gets to create characters that are fantastical or ‘out of the ordinary’.
