SOUTH SOUND is a project documenting the emerging South Wales grime, drill and rap scene during the summer of 2022.

Using photography, South Sound captures the essence of an energetic music scene, from live performances to studio sessions and portraiture. 

About the artist
Pierre S. Gashagaza is a multidisciplinary artist specialising in film-making and photography. 

In 2021 Pierre embarked on a gap year after finishing sixth form college. During this period he worked in the South Wales creative scene with artists, events and organisations such as The Shutdown Show and Jukebox Collective.

At the core of Pierre’s artistry is Steelo Vision: a media outlet and production company that caters for arts and social commentary. 

Pierre also partakes in activism and community work, volunteering for Urban Circle in Newport and the Sub-Sahara Advisory Panel’s youth project.

In September 2022 Pierre moved to London to pursue his university education.
