Wales Millennium Centre would like to thank the Arts Council of Wales for their continued support. Today’s news reflects the difficult decisions it has had to make in the light of financial pressures they and Welsh Government are facing. The impact of these decisions will be felt across the sector with many organisations and individuals facing an uncertain future. In this context we appreciate the maintenance of our current level of revenue funding as an endorsement of our impact on creativity in Wales.
While today’s announcement will provide challenges due to rising costs for our 7.5-acre public building housing our resident partners, we are committed to working with our sector and stakeholders to maximise the impact of available funding and safeguard opportunities for audiences, artists, young people and communities.
Please note: Our world-leading arts centre has not had an increase in public funding since 2007 and has relied on commercial success on top of this, enabling us to be a creative home for everyone, producing world leading live and digital experiences, offering essential free learning opportunities for 6,500+ young people annually and sharing our spaces and knowledge with 50+ community, national and international partners.
