Peter Swinburn, Chairman

Originally from Penywaun South Wales Peter obtained an Economics degree from the University of Wales before embarking on a career in the beer business which culminated in him being appointed CEO of Molson Coors, the third largest Beer company in the world.

Peter divides his time between the US and the UK and is a non-executive director of public, private and non-profit boards on both sides of the Atlantic covering such diverse businesses as software, fashion retail, car maintenance and repair and of course arts and culture.

Rhodri Talfan Davies

Rhodri Talfan Davies is the BBC Director of Nations and sits on the BBC’s Executive Committee.

Appointed to the role in January 2021, Rhodri leads the BBC’s work serving nations and local audiences across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The BBC Nations division is one of the largest in the BBC and produces a range of content across TV, radio and online for audiences in the nations, across the whole of the UK and globally. He leads the teams responsible for the UK’s biggest news show, the regional BBC One 6.30 programmes and a network of local and nations radio stations reaching almost 9m listeners across the UK.

In the last year Rhodri has accelerated the delivery of standout TV programming from across the devolved nations, launching a new collaboration between nations and the network team to drive portrayals of different parts of the UK. These include The Pact, In My Skin, Angels of the North, Guilt and Conversation with Friends.

Prior to this role, Rhodri was Director of BBC Wales. Appointed in 2011 he oversaw all BBC programming produced for Wales in English and Welsh including BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and television output for S4C, BBC One Wales and BBC Two Wales. He led a transformation in high-impact drama programming – including the hit series Hidden, Keeping Faith and Hinterland – as well as expanding the BBC’s portfolio of Welsh language services. In 2020 Rhodri also successfully completed BBC Wales' move to its new home at Central Square.

Between 2006 and 2011 Rhodri led the BBC Wales’ strategy and marketing teams; he spent a period at Telewest (now Virgin Media) as Head of Television Marketing and from 2001–2004 he led the development of HomeChoice, one of the world's earliest on-demand television services. In 2004 his team won a UK BAFTA for the service's pioneering interactive facilities.

From 1999 to 2001 Rhodri was Head of Regional and Local Programmes for BBC West. He joined the BBC in 1993 as a news trainee, spending six years as a news reporter and producer at a number of BBC centres including Newcastle, Manchester and London. Rhodri began his career as a sub-editor with the Western Mail newspaper in Cardiff.

Nicky Goulder

Nicky is Founding Chief Executive of Create, the UK’s leading charity empowering lives through the creative arts. Born from the vision she had in December 2002 - Create - designs and delivers creative projects that bring together, upskill and empower the UK’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable children and adults.

Before establishing the charity in July 2003, Nicky was Chief Executive of the Orchestra of St John’s, culminating a career in orchestral management that spanned 11 years. She was previously a Marketing Executive at KPMG.

Nicky was a volunteer Childline Counsellor for five years before becoming a Samaritan in January 2002; was on the YouthXpress leadership team at Southwark Cathedral between 2007-2017; is the Vice Chair of the Queen’s Nursing Institute; and is an advisor to the Pro Youth Philharmonia.

She has a First Class BSc (Hons) in Marketing (with arts) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma. In 2013, she completed a Certificate in History of Art at Birkbeck College, University of London, for which she was awarded Distinction.

Nicky was recognised as Clarins Most Dynamisante Woman of the Year in 2013; received the Charity Times Rising CEO Star Highly Commended award in 2014; was one of 30 #SocialCEO award winners in 2015; and was runner-up for the Directory of Social Change 'Influencer' award in 2017.

She is motivated by her longing for a fair, caring, inclusive society in which every individual can fulfil their potential.

Julie-Ann Haines

Julie-Ann has broad cross-sector experience holding senior roles in sales, marketing and technology working in leading customer centric businesses including Sainsbury’s, Reckitt Benckiser and HBOS. She is currently Chief Executive Officer of Principality Building Society having held board and leadership positions for a number of years. She is also a member of the International Advisory panel of Cardiff Business School, on the CBI Cymru Council and a member of UK Finance mid-tier Banking Advisory Panel.

Julie-Ann is passionate about working with organisations that are rooted in their communities, ensuring fantastic customer experience and better meeting customer needs particularly around the sustainability agenda.

Julie-Ann was born and educated in Scotland, but has lived in Cardiff since 1999. She’s married to a Welshman and has two daughters. Her passions are her family, walking and all things related to music and theatre.

Amit Kachawaha

Amit Kachawaha is originally from New Delhi, India and he moved to London in 2005. He is currently working as Senior Vice President, Private Banking at DBS Bank Ltd in London. His responsibilities include managing wealth, providing investment advice and bespoke credit solutions to ultra high net worth clients/families of the bank. He is a qualified Chartered Wealth Manager from the CISI Institute, London, UK.

Amit has been in the banking and finance industry since 1999, and his previous assignments have been with large financial institutions like Emirates NBD, Royal Bank of Canada, Citibank, ICICI Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and Indiabulls.

He has a Master’s degree in Business Management (specialisation Marketing) from Faculty of Management Studies, India and a undergraduate degree in chemistry from Delhi University.

In his leisure, Amit enjoys playing badminton, squash and cricket. He is a keen networker and proactively attends many events and seminars to widen and build his network.

Vivian Murinde

Joanna Rees

Jo is a lawyer and partner at Blake Morgan in Cardiff specialising in construction and infrastructure work. Originally from Porthcawl, she graduated from Bristol University and worked in the City before rediscovering the attractions of Welsh life.

She now lives with her family and two large Airedales in the Vale of Glamorgan. Jo is also a member of the Cardiff Business Council ac mae'n siarad Cymraeg.

Rita Singh

Rita Singh is Director of Size of Wales, a climate change charity, working to protect tropical forests ‘the size of Wales’ through a programme of climate action, education, awareness raising and inspiring campaigns.

Rita is a qualified engineer with her first degree from Cardiff University, and an MPhil from Cambridge University.

She has twenty years’ experience working within the private, public and third sectors on sustainability issues, bringing a wealth of experience on policy development and implementation.

This includes working for an industry body as an Environment Director representing the interests of manufacturers and suppliers on environmental & climate change issues; working within Greater London Authority’s sustainability team on, among others, the London Leaders’ programme; establishing Community Energy Wales; and helping to bring into law the ground breaking Well-being of Fututre Generations Act.

This Act for the first time defines four pillars of sustainability - economic, environment, social and cultural.

Rita sits on the Board of Fair Trade Wales and Common Cause Foundation, is an alumna of the Prince of Wales' Business and Sustainability Programme, and a Fellow of the British American Project.
