We believe that exploring new forms of storytelling will enable more people to connect with stories in new and different ways.

We curate and create a programme of digital work that pushes the boundaries of reality and possibility and support artists to explore their practice through alternative platforms and technologies.

Bocs is our dedicated and pioneering space presenting an ever-changing programme that brings award-winning immersive experiences and extended reality (XR) events to Wales. We’ve also produced our own digital experiences and exhibits to complement our productions such as Ripples of Kindness for The Boy with Two Hearts and The Museum of Nothingness for The Making of a Monster.

Immersive Arts

In 2024 we became a partner in a cross-UK project funded through a £6 million grant which will support over 200 UK artists to explore the possibilities of immersive technology.

Over three years the project will provide artists with access to the tools and training they need to harness the potential of these rapidly evolving and emerging creative technologies

As one of the four producing partners representing all UK nations, we are joined by Watershed in England, Nerve Centre cross-artform studios in Northern Ireland and Cryptic and partner facilities in Scotland. The project will be led by Pervasive Media Studio (PMStudio), a partnership between Watershed, UWE Bristol and the University of Bristol.

Funding for Immersive Arts comes from a unique partnership of the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Arts Council England, Creative Scotland, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Arts Council of Wales.

IDA Network Partnership

In 2023 we established a partnership with the Ida Network to create a new Welsh hub, ‘Ida HWB’, launching in 2024.

The Ida Network is a community for women, non-binary and trans people within the immersive XR sector to be celebrated and welcomed. It is a safe, inclusive space to meet new people, make new connections or even start a new collaboration or venture.

Ida HWB is a physical and virtual space – we host in-person meet up events, as well as share news, blogs and opportunities with our growing community.

To keep up to date with the latest Ida HWB news and to be added to our mailing list, send your name and email address to ida.hwb@wmc.org.uk.
